What to Expect at Your First Visit

  • The initial visit will be an hour long and we will go over your current problem area(s), your medical history, your imaging, labs, and the potential treatment options.
  • Please wear shorts or loose-fitting clothing to allow for a proper physical exam of the area that we are evaluating.
  • Please have any imaging (X-rays, MRI, CT scan) available on CD or your phone. We need to see actual images, not just the radiology report.
  • Please have your most recent CBC (complete blood count) available, specifically your platelet count. These are important for a proper and thorough evaluation, and not having these may slow down the process.
  • By the time you leave the office, expect to have an understanding of your condition, and the possible treatment options available to you.

What to Expect at Your Procedure Visit

  • Please hydrate the 24 hours prior to your visit. You are ok to eat something prior to your procedure.
  • Please wear shorts or loose clothing, as we will need access to the body part we are treating.
  • A driver is not always necessary, but is encouraged. There will be no anesthesia, but some people react to injections differently than others.
  • If you prescribed any pain medication, make sure you pick it up a day or two prior to the procedure appointment. If you take pain medication before the procedure, you will need a driver.

What to Expect After Your Injection

  • The injection can cause a pain reaction for 2-3 days afterwards. We recommend no strenuous activity, or big events, for the 2 days after the procedure.
  • We recommend avoiding vigorous exercise for 2 weeks after the procedure. Then you are free to resume normal activity, without any additional restrictions.
  • Any medications or supplements you stopped for the procedure, you may resume 2 weeks after the procedure, unless otherwise specified.

List of Medications to Avoid/Stop Before and After the Procedure

  • No anti-inflammatories (Aleve, Advil, Aspirin, Celebrex, Diclofenac, Voltaren, Ibuprofen, Naproxen) or anti-inflammatory supplements (turmeric, fish oil, etc.) for 2 weeks before, and 2 weeks after procedure. Tylenol is OK.
  • If you are taking a GLP-1 agonist (semaglutide, Ozempic, Wegovy, ect.) please let Dr. Laughlin know, as we may want to stop this medication two weeks prior to the procedure, if medically possible. If you take it for diabetes control, speak with your physician before stopping it.
  • Do not stop any prescription or prescribed medications without consulting your physician first.
